About the Customer

Adventist HealthCare is based in Gaithersburg, MD with 1,025 acute care beds and more than 2,100 physicians. The not-for-profit network is home to three acute care hospitals, three specialty care hospitals that offer inpatient and outpatient behavioral health care, and more than a dozen home health and rehabilitation operations.

Address Future Challenges_PChallenge

Adventist HealthCare needed a way to ensure consistency in their perinatal education program. They wanted to be sure that every participant got the same experience, something that is somewhat difficult to achieve with a purely instructor-led training approach.

Flexibility also became more important as the pandemic spread and made in-person classes less feasible. They needed a solution that could be completed from anywhere— allowing their students to feel safe and not required to spend a full day off-site for training.

Adventist HealthCare began offering an in-person S.T.A.B.L.E. Program in 2019 and began the process of trying to certify their entire perinatal staff. However, in early 2020, the pandemic derailed those plans as in person training was no longer practical. The S.T.A.B.L.E. Program Online launched at the exact right time, making it an easy decision for Adventist HealthCare to shift their training methods.

The online version of S.T.A.B.L.E. offered one comprehensive version, which eliminated the scheduling complexities associated with having three different versions and, in fact, eliminated the need for scheduling altogether. The S.T.A.B.L.E. Program Online also eliminated the time-consuming and costly task of distributing, collecting, and storing the learner manuals. Students appreciated not having to take the class all at once and being able to take it at a time, pace, and location that was convenient and safe for them.

Adventist HealthCare has made the S.T.A.B.L.E. Program part of orientation – not just onboarding. In addition, they will be offering both in-person and online versions of The S.T.A.B.L.E. Program. The flexibility of offering both helps them determine how to get each type of user the best experience.

"The S.T.A.B.L.E. Program has allowed us to create consistency among instructors and determine the best learning experience for students.”
