As a healthcare system serving rural communities, Titus Regional has always utilized new technologies and innovative systems to close resource gaps and help implement new strategies. Having relied upon Excel spreadsheets for credentialing for a number of years, it became evident that this method was time-consuming and prone to errors. They hoped to automate the credentialing workflow to free up time that would be better focused on quality improvement.

Starting with a desire to modernize its credentialing processes, Titus Regional reviewed options and chose CredentialStream® based on its comprehensive features, user-friendly interface, and scalability. These characteristics were crucial to minimizing interruption to daily activities during implementation. The project team worked closely with HealthStream® to set up customization specific to their needs, as well as thorough training sessions

Transitioning to electronic records was a significant change, but the slow and methodical implementation has helped to mitigate any challenges. Approximately 60% of processes now use CredentialStream with more to come. The goal is to utilize features like credentialing by proxy to boost efficiency in managing telehealth providers.

“If we didn’t have CredentialStream, then I would retire. I think everyone has really enjoyed not having all that paper. It is so much easier to get documents to providers when they need them, whether for initial or reappointment. I don’t want to go back, that’s for sure.”

– Sharon Alexander, Medical Staff Services Manager, Titus Regional Medical Center
