About the Customer
Logan Health is a 590-bed health system in Montana with six hospitals and 68 provider clinics. Their service area includes the east and west side of the state, covers 20 counties, and includes 700,000 people. It supports 170 graduate-level students, 350 undergraduates, and their instructors each year.
Challenge
As a large health system in Montana, Logan Health was managing over 400 clinical students per year through a manual process of emails, spreadsheets and faxed documents. This chaotic process took up to 4 hours per student to complete and was inefficient, error-prone, and posed compliance risks. Data collection was difficult, taking days to pull basic metrics.
Solution
Logan Health implemented HealthStream's myClinicalExchange platform to streamline its entire student onboarding and placement process. Logan Health now utilizes myClinicalExchange’s key features such as scheduling, compliance tracking and checklists. Logan Health’s academic partners were educated on the new system and profiles, checklists, and slots were built out. Regular communication helped drive adoption.
Results
With myClinicalExchange, Logan Health can now pull critical data like student placements and vaccinations instantly. Academic partners have more autonomy to place students. Over 4,000 hours per year have been freed up, allowing Logan Health to expand programs like job shadowing that bring new audiences into healthcare. Compliance requests can be fulfilled quickly. Academic partners have been empowered to grow their programs using placement data provided. The new streamlined and digital process has transformed student experiences at Logan Health.
