With over 10,000 employees, 1,747 beds, and 10 locations, Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System has been serving patients for over 100 years and have relied on various scheduling and capacity tools for 30 of those years.

With so many of their locations and leadership still utilizing an older, more cumbersome, less user-friendly system, they needed a way to streamline communication and simplify scheduling across the entire entity.

When they began looking for a new scheduling solution, leadership was careful to find an option that would not only meet their needs, but make the transition easy because they knew that after 30 years of other tools, staff could be resistant to change. In 2022, Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System switched their scheduling over to ShiftWizardTM and quickly saw the positive ripple effects.

From the easy-to-use interface to the convenient messaging center, ShiftWizardTM has not only taken this healthcare system to a paperless process but has streamlined its scheduling process while giving staff a new level of access to their schedules. When making the transition, this healthcare system decided to archive its existing data and start fresh, which they said gave them the opportunity to use their previous grids to build new templates unique  to the needs of individual departments and units. Leadership was also concerned with those who have heavily relied on the older, traditional scheduling systems for so long, as they knew the change could be difficult.
