Every day, countless lives are saved due to this important training. Has an individual or team demonstrated superior resuscitation care at your organization? If so, consider nominating them for a Red Cross National Lifesaving Award.
There is no better way to recognize extraordinary lifesaving skills than with an award from the Red Cross. These real-life success stories are a tremendous inspiration to recognize and encourage others to train to have the courage to act in the moments that matter.
Individuals can be nominated for a wide range of lifesaving skills, including first aid, CPR, using an AED or others. Once you have completed an online nomination, you will be asked to provide details about the incident, release forms for those involved and any other necessary paperwork.
Recognize professional responders, or other healthcare professionals, who completed a Red Cross training program and performed lifesaving actions while on duty.
Recognize off-duty professional responders, or individuals without a duty to respond, who completed Red Cross training and performed lifesaving actions.
Recognize individuals, or teams, who performed lifesaving actions, but did not complete a Red Cross training program.
The tradition of recognition began in 1911 with an anonymous donation for the purpose of awarding railway men who had rendered first aid. That initial $5000 donation helped establish the trust fund, named after then-current President William Howard Taft, which would fund cash awards to recipients. The program quickly expanded with the creation of the Certificate of Merit in 1928.
